Fire Destroys Shops Worth Millions In Ajah Market


A fire at a market in the Ajah area of Lagos has destroyed shops and goods worth millions of naira, according to the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA). 

The incident occurred on Sunday night at Ajah Market, near Alesh bus stop in Lekki.

Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, the agency’s Permanent Secretary, confirmed the fire in a statement on Monday.

When emergency responders arrived at the scene at 10:10 PM, they found several shops filled with combustible materials engulfed in flames.

As of the latest update, the cause of the fire has not yet been determined. Fortunately, no casualties or injuries were reported.

The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service managed to control the blaze and prevent it from spreading to nearby buildings.

However, significant property losses were incurred due to the fire.
