PRESIDENT TINUBU FLAGS OFF WURUKUM FLYOVER IN MAKURDI ||africanvibez.com.ng

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has officially flagged off the construction of a flyover at Wurukum Roundabout in Makurdi, a key part of the Makurdi–9th Mile dualization project.

The initiative, valued at $950 million and financed by China Exim Bank, covers 260 kilometers (520 kilometers in dual carriage terms), making it one of the largest legacy projects under the current administration.

Speaking at the ceremony, Minister of Works, Engr. Dave Umahi, described the flyover as a special gift from the president to Benue people, assuring that it would be delivered with the highest quality and within schedule.

Governor Hyacinth Alia, representing the president, said the project will transform transportation, agriculture, and trade by easing movement of goods, especially farm produce, from Benue to Abuja and other regions.

According to the project consultants, the Makurdi–9th Mile dualization will be divided into five sections, in addition to the Lafia Bypass. Contractors from China Harbour Construction Company pledged to execute all sections simultaneously for efficiency and promised timely delivery.

When completed, the Wurukum Flyover will greatly reduce traffic congestion in Makurdi and boost regional connectivity, stimulate commerce, and unlock the agricultural potential of Nigeria’s food basket.
